the only part i know of to come off a drive shaft is the u joints and you can press or knock them out.

You may need to press it off or use a bearing puller. Worst case, heat it and beat it -- tap it off after putting a torch on it.
the only way to get it off is use a press to force it off and then back on. the drive shaft has to be split at the slip yoke then you can take it off and replace it. do not heat it! find some shop that has a press and bring the shaft to them, should only take about 20 minutes, atleast that is how long it takes me.
thanks, but notice a slip yok seal and threaded ring in the way, which is smaller than the yok gears, does this mean I have to replace them too??
No need to press the old part off. Cut old bearing with an abrasive cutting wheel. Cut as much as possible, though you might not get all the way into the corner. if so, then with a chisel, crack the remainder. Be very careful and use safety glasses bc the bearing is hardened and shards may fly off. No problem if you nick the shaft, but file any high spots from inaccurate hammer hits. I used to use a chunk of pipe to drive the new part on. Enjoy. Pressing off is too much trouble, you can't make money with that method. (I was mechanic 50 years, still am, actually)
