fuel injectors system cut off fuel when foot is lifted from the throttle pedal

Asked by Haleem Oct 18, 2016 at 08:16 AM about the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Question type: General

some videos about fuel economy say most modern cars cut off fuel from
injectors when foot is lifted from the throttle pedal... does this apply to
corolla 2006 (automatic transmission)? does it work at all speeds or whithin
a certain RPM range?

thank you

It can happen with any car, I would first check to see what you fuel pressure is, you may have a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. The you may want to check your injectors they may be clogged, try a good fuel injector cleaner, it will take a few bottles.

maybe I didn't clarify my question. I wasn't referring to a problem, I was asking about a fuel economy feature in some cars, let's say I'm driving at 50MPH and lifted my foot completely off the pedal (in a Corolla 2006). will fuel injectors still inject fuel to the engine? or it's only in more recent cars (newer thank 2006)

No there is a fuel cut when your throttle is at 0 position and the start again when the rpms are between 1600 to 1400 i think so!
