The shaking is most likely caused by the engine misfiring. If the battery is bad replace it, then get the trouble codes read and determine why it is misfiring.

My 2003 Toyota Corolla with 175,000 miles was showing the check engine light. My friend ran a check and the code P0770 came up, which is Shift Solenoid 'E' Malfunction. When I'm on the freeway, I do notice my car is slow on accelerating, but my MPG is fine. How much would it cost to get this fix? Also, would I fail the California SMOG check?
