Toyota Camry 04 Dies after two seconds

Asked by AutisticNic Aug 15, 2021 at 12:21 PM about the 2004 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the alternator on my car not
that long ago and whenever I started the car it
would run but I couldn’t shift it out of gear
(automatic) and whenever I stepped on the
gas pedal no rpms. Now my car will only stay
running for 2-4 seconds will rev up twice then
die. I have a code for throttle actuator stuck
open but don’t know if cleaning if will solve
the stuck in park and everything. If anyone
could give me tips it'll be gladly appreciated!

I would clean the throttle actuator valve and see if it frees up from being sticky. If it doesn't then I would replace the valve. Also, check for any other codes as well. Make sure there is proper voltage as well because that can cause electrical issues.
