what did the 64 1/2 steering wheel look like?

Hello, Both had deep concave wheels. This was actually a safety feature to protect the driver on impact, but was noted more for its style. The 1965 had the option of a wood grain steering wheel as part of the Interior Decor Group, while I do not believe the 1964.5 did. Best of luck, CarGrrl

I agree with Cargrrl. If you have a 64 1/2 Mustang, hang onto it!
Un-plug your horn(unless you like annoying your neighbors),,push your horn, and turn the ring to the left to remove it-now,carefully dismantle the backside, and remove the emblem, and surround-ring..If your wheel is a true 64 1/2,you will see "falcon sprint" behind the mustang emblem..If it is blank-it"s a 65-66 steering wheel..
have the falcon or comet sign......
NO- It will say-FALCON SPRINT...Also, remove your sterring wheel, and look at the contact plate, for the horn..64 1/2 will be two copper rings, for contact-Same as the 64- and older Falcons..65, went to a single copper -contact...AND--behind the mustang emblem, will be blank...
63sprintowner is right, I have a 64.5 and under the mustang cap on the steering wheel is a Falcon Sprint wheel, they where both coming down the line, and they hadn't got the new steering wheels in yet!!!!! Here's a picture of mine !!!!!!
