1998 Toyota Avalon stuck in park - how much to repair

Asked by Greg Aug 09, 2015 at 11:42 AM about the 1998 Toyota Avalon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

My son's Avalon won't shift out of park - a week before is off to college.  :-(

This has been an issue for a while (a couple of months) but he was using the override
method while he saved money.

However, that stopped working.  Now what?

We have checked the brake lights and they work fine,

What now?  Please help.

there is a hole in the front of the shifter cover. May be a plug. Remove it and use ballpen to push release.
