98 Toyota Camry acceleration

Asked by Bielen Sep 18, 2018 at 09:39 PM about the 1998 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Most recently my Toyota Camry V6 would lose
acceleration. I pull off to side of road and it would
inch forward some as I am pressing gas pedal.  I
parked it then tried to start it and it would not turn
over. But once it sits for a long while it would start
again.  I drove to work 20 miles it sits then on way
back home same thing, lose acceleration and
would not turn over. I got a new battery, and a
changed fuel filter.  Kind of nervous to take
anywhere. My dad says fuel pump is fine. What
could it be?

I was thinking fuel filter or fuel pump too. No Check Engine light? Have it scanned for fault codes anyway. On an older car it could be any number of things but it is not necessarily anything serious or expensive. If you wait until it gets worse, you may have to pay for a tow truck too. Good Luck.
