Toyota Camry LE 2004 acceleration issues

Asked by Nazzer Oct 03, 2018 at 01:33 AM about the 2004 Toyota Camry LE V6 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Toyota Camry LE 2004, a week ago I
noticed that my acceleration was very odd on my
Toyota Camry, when I press the gas pedal nothing
will happen until I push the gas pedal
approximately half way down then fuel will start to
run. I thought potentially I had some very dirty fuel
injectors so I put fuel injector cleaner into my gas
tank and approx 12 hours later it went away. Then
today it’s started to happen again does anyone
know what the issue could be? By the way the
check engine light did also come on and When the
issue went away for a week the check engine light
did disappear but it is unfortunately back again

If the check engine light came on, there is a stored fault code that will tell you what's going on. It sound like it may be the throttle position sensor. Also, I remember years ago there was a recall on Toyotas for Sudden Unexpected Acceleration like a throttle cable was hanging up. Talk to your dealer about a covered repair but don't get tricked into "Diagnostic Fees", that's a rip off.
