I have a 97 camry. New radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses....flushed everything,
cleaned heater core. All hoses get hot, heater core heats up....no heat in car....what is
going on???? Temperature guage stays in center while in the city, goes cold on the
highway....slight heat in city for about a minute, then stops.

I bet you live in a cold area.... I'd like someone to try putting a piece of tarp or plastic trash bag over the grill area of the car to keep the moving air directly off the radiator. If you've ever watched Ice Road Truckers, the big rigs all have some type of cover on the radiator grill to cut down on the area getting direct air.
The switch is the little one on the thermostat housing tiny one wire,
Heater valve cable broke the a valve that runs out in the engine compartment most time cable going to it do you have manual ac o Or automatic air control unit have. Numbers or red or blue line red for heater blue for ac look and see if valve is opening this valve runs water Through the heater core .let me know sometimes breaks or;freees up
