1997 toyota corolla consuming more fuel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The positive wire to the fuel pump had no current getting to it. I check all the
fuse and relays they all seems to be working. Finally I decided to bypass the
wire to get the car running but now I realize I am consuming higher fuel then
before. Can anyone help me.

Jumping the fuel pump wire is going to allow the car to consume more fuel, normally a clogged catalytic converter will cause more fuel consumption and or you may need a complete tuneup
Jumping the fuel pump wire or getting the fuel pump to turn on is not going to make it consume more gas, since there is a fuel regulator that only allows a certain amount of fuel threw to the injectors. But the rest of what COMETGUY61 could be your problem.

you need to trace the wire and find the problem , rev the engine and see if there's a healthy blast from the exhaust to see if your cat. is plugged , let us know what happens , something else can go wrong by coincidence along with another problem
