i have a 1991 toyota camry sv30 switch off when going up hill

It almost seems like you have something in the gas tank which moves to the pump and starves it for fuel when going up hill. Does it instantly shut off or does it chug like it's running out of gas?

Clarification. When you indicate the engine "switch off"....do you mean the engine stalls out? Is the check engine light ON when this issue occurs? How much gasoline is in the gas tank when this issue occurs? What does the gas gauge read?
