Could be that the big puddle doused the spark plugs in water and they are no longer operating. Check them out. See if they are wet.

If you find the plugs are dry you may have a more significant problem like water in the engine. Trying to start the engine may actually increase the damage. So, check the plugs and if they're okay, call a mechanic.

If the puddle caused it then the first place I would check is my distributor cap. remove it and simply clean it out or replace if cracked or warn out.

If puddle did not cause it look to the 10 gauge wire coming from battery to 80 amp fuse under hood fuse box. My 87 pu would click and not turn over when this wire was corroded or damaged.
