Toyota MR2 MK1 high engine revs

Asked by Bradley Apr 05, 2019 at 02:58 PM about the 1985 Toyota MR2

Question type: General

I have a 1986 toyota mr2 with the engine having about 120k miles. while
driving the car at speeds around 80kmph the revs are unusually high(about 4k-
5k) this forces it to return bad gas mileage. Is this normal or is something wrong
with my engine?
