We own a 1986 Toyota Tercel wagon with a stick shift transmission. Recently it started making a clunk sound whenever the gears shift is moved from one gear to another. Other than the noise, it works fine. It does not slip out of gear or anything like that. Is this something to be concerned about?

We are hearing a "clunking" or "rattling" sound when we shift gears on our 5 speed 1986 Toyota Tercel Wagon....it seems to be getting slightly louder. We just had a screw tightened for the gear shift - but the clunking is not going away. My 1985 Toyota Tercel wagon is a gem...but has a crack in the top of the radiator. My mechanic tried liquid plastic...not OK. I need a new radiator or the top part to the radiator. Any suggestions??
