Without seeing the vehicle or knowing more about you, this question is impossible to answer. Points to consider: How is the body? Is it badly rusted? If so, how good are you with a MIG welder? A plasma cutter? A sheet metal shear? Body putty and paint? Body work adds up fast and a $100 junker can easily turn into a $12,000 body job. Then you have the interior to consider. Can you personally recover the seats? Upholstery work is very expensive. Interior parts may be hard to source and expensive when you can find them. Assuming you want to spend the money on that stuff, how is the vehicle mechanically? Any good restoration usually starts with removing the body from the frame and re-doing all of the mechanical aspects, because a $12,000 body and paint job doesn't look quite as cool sitting in your driveway when the engine breaks down because it wasn't redone. Are you willing to devote the time and money required to a project that will undoubtedly produce a vehicle that is immediately worth less than what you have in it? Car restoration is a labor of love, not a money-winning proposition. And with a vehicle such as this, you might be better off spending a little more money to find one that is in decent, presentable condition, and use yours as a parts vehicle for the better car. It will be cheaper that way in the end.

Well you have the king of the four wheel drives. If you put the right engine in it a four wheel drive convertible sports car. Body rust. doors and the like are easy. new with power or not, they are cheap. Core body parts to replace are available Interior. whatever the skys the limit. stock, why? something fun, yea. exterior. the body moldings are dated and expensive. how about a great color. I have had 6 of these over the years, and still do. Always had one. Everybody wants a ride, everyone wants to buy it. The 73 thru 75 has yet to date never got expensive. the 76 and newer are not worth scrap they look old. Convertible never goes out of style.

If you go to LMC.com they have free part catalogs, great prices. and they are a good resource. But as for the cost it all depends on what you want. A friend spent 24000 on his 81 and i spent 7500 on mine. It just boils down to what you want and what you will be doing with the truck after you are done. Good luck. Hope this helps
