I have a 1969 SS427 Impala Convertible that has the aluminum intake by weiand and the aluminum valve covers. Would these features tell me what horsepower this engine was equipped or what special feature was included with this type of accesories?

Hello The SS 427 badge was option Z24 on the base 1969 Impala model. It came with two engines: a V8 with a Rochester single four-barrel carburetor which was rated at 390 horsepower at 5400 rpm and had 460 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm and a special COPO that had an 800-cfm Holley Carburetor which produced 425 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. I'm not sure the valve covers would give a proper answer, but checking the carburetor should help. Best of luck! CarGrrl

the weiand intake is most likely aftermarket. the 427 is a unique engine there wasn't many in the impala. as far as hp rating just look in a repair manual. there were 427s with 390 & 425 hp .
