Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I switched out my 72 impala rear end with the rear
from a 96 impala ss. The original rear had drum
brakes and the ss has disc brakes, everything
bolted right up with no problem. I noticed that the
E brake cables on the 96 ss were way longer than
the ones on the original rear and it also has a
different fitting on the end that connects to the
inner side of the caliper, the fitting is connected to
a hook that locks the brakes when you step on the
pedal. I have no I sea how to make this work the
original cables on the 72 rear end are 37.062
inches and the one on the 96 ss rear end are
almost or about 73 inches! Does anyone have an
answer so I can get this tool in care of ASAP!????
I put a pic of the 96 ss parking brake cable piece
that is not on the original rears cable

Ask your parts store for the tech service number of the company they buy cables from and see if they will help. Some companies make a product catalog that includes pictures and lengths of their cables. I hope this helps. Take care.
