hey my name is steven and i have a 1984 chevrolet impala 3.8 liter motor. it will run just fine when its setting, but, when you get it up to about 35 mph it just sdtarts cutting out. and its shifts just fine but after it hits second gear and 35 mph it starts just cutting out and sometimes dies. plz help. e mail me back at lucifer_1969_2005@yahoo.com

I have an 82 with very few miles on it, and about 8 years ago, the computer failed. A mechanic that i know put 1980 carburetor, and distributor on it, and did away with smog stuff. Car runs excellent now. Of course the engine will alway have a slight vibration because it is an odd-fire engine, with only three crank throws on it. You would not beleive the difference in the running of it without the smog crap. The other post about the converter is very true too. Someone took mine off before I got the car, and Here in Alabama, they don't care. Some states won't let you change it.
