1976 corvette will crank but will not start? suggestions?

Sounds like you are not getting spark. Check the distributor, see if the timing is properly set. Check the wires and also the ignition coil. The coil in the GM HEI coil-in-cap set-ups can go bad. If you do an ammeter test, it will show infinite or very high resistance, indicating the coil is bad. You may also have a fuel delivery problem or clogged fuel filter.

im having the same issue. already have new and wires as well as a new distributor cap. and my fuel system has no issues. im thinking of getting a new ignition coil to see if that helps. how do u check the timing?
