I have a 1976 Corvette with the headlights off the signals work fine! When I trun on the lights the left will not flash and the left front side marker goes out.. not sure what to check next

Yup, you need to check all the wiring that goes to the lights. I could be out of blinker fluid.....Maybe not. LOL

Make sure the blinker fluid is alcohol based to prevent the corrosion build up causing the electrons to stop flowing to the lights. There would be only so much elections to light the lights and the headlights take so much, there is not enough for the blinker lights. On the real serious side, look for clean connections, broken or frayed wires that may be shorting out. Look to see if the headlights rotate, there are no wires being pulled or stretched at all. With the headlights off, and the side marker and blinker light on, pull at the wires and see if they continue to illuminate. Something mechanical that is moving may be causing a connection to break.
