Did Chevrolet come out with a 502 ss monte carlo in 1970-1972

No 502's. The biggest factory engine in a production car was the 454.

There was a SS454 MC made and they are pretty rare.

The only engines in 70 to 72 montys are 350, California cars may have a small block 400, 402 big block and a low horse power 454, LS 5 454,special order LS6 454 the LS7 454 was not an option for the Monty Carlo at any price. A 502 is an after market item. Ie.crate motor. A good book with pictures is titled Chevy by the numbers. It will clear up the facts on a lot of cars and what is "Factory ".
