Cant get no power to distributor cap

Asked by tmelt2 Nov 05, 2009 at 07:50 PM about the 1981 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to know what we can try to do to get power to distributor cap, we have checked fuses, wires, made sure no wires were pinched, i think it has something to do with a green wire. Tried everything, does anyone have any ideas? I dont know what else to do.

It sounds like you missed installing a wire or two into the cap The three wire plug from the distributor plugs into the cap closest to the cap There should be two more wires if it has a tach. One is off white which plugs into left outer side for tach feed and then there should be a heavy red wire that plugs right outer side of the cap as pictured. This wire is fed from the ignition switch
