Hi I have a 87 Chevy S-10 it has a 350I hit tthe gas pedal it revs and drives but going down the road it revs but its not going the speed that I'm pressing on the gas pedal I also half to charge

enough it last a few hours connected
so I disconnect it if I go a county over
I half to taka e extra battery alon it
drives like its drained the guy I got it
from says alternater is good I drove
three hours home months ago  Help I
fix what I can

If you know the battery is good and have had it checked to be good,the alternator is bad.

Is that the reason its revving up loud but not going the speed also the cap is broken off the back of the alternator?

But if it is reving high and not moving may need tp check your transmission fluid.

If engine revs and the speed does not increase. Sounds like your transmission is slipping. Check fluid level when warm. The color of the fluid should be a deep purple like grape jelly color. If it's brown it could be burnt. If the engine has over heated you have also over heated the trans fluid witch would case the internal "O" rings to crack losing pressure . Causing it to slip.
