Ford F-150 distributor and coil

Asked by GuruTL8WH Jun 28, 2018 at 11:48 PM about the 1977 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to set new distributor and
coil. Will my truck start if I'm not
lined up exactly with everything
that has to be lined up? My truck
just died on me. Gas to the
carborator but it won't turn over
with new distributor and coil. I
can't get it to fire.

I would set the engine to TDC on the #1 cylinder compression stroke. Turn the distributor so that the rotor is pointing to the #1 spark plug wire. This will get you close enough so that it should start.
