Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I'm going to replace the steering wheel for 77 f150
truck, how many spokes does the steering wheel
have ? And should I replace the whole steering
column, I've heard that this original columns are no
good. Also my signals, windshield wipers are not
working would this be the fuses or something
more ? Does anyone know the cost of labor for
both steering wheel and replacing column.
Appreciate it ;)

You can replace a steering wheel without replacing an entire column, they do make a steering wheel puller if you can't get yours loose. I wouldn't replace the column unless yours was damaged or you really want to upgrade to a modern column. You should also check condition of the steering coupler, aka rag joint. For the wipers and signals, checking fuses would be the first step, if those are good you'll have to start checking wires and switches.
Thanks @KenF, how many spokes does the steering have? Planning on buying a new steering wheel but there diff. Spokes 2,3,4. ? Also is the rag joint the part located inside the hood connected to the end column ?
The most common OEM one has two spokes, pretty much all Fords had that. I'm not quite sure what you're asking for, you can use any sort of aftermarket steering wheel you like, depends on how "original" you want to keep truck. Some people prefer more modern functionality of a newer steering column over the basic minimal function of the old one. The rag joint is the coupler between the intermediate shaft and the steering box, just google it to get pics. Unless yours has been somehow miraculously preserved in a time capsule it's most likely trashed, and allowing too much play in the steering.
