how much do you have to change to go from a standard frame to a short box frame 79 f150

youll need to either find a bed or cut yours, shorten your frame, shorter driveshaft, i think thats it, not alot of things to do, just time consuming

Thanks, My frame is bad and I can't find a standard one but I did find a short box frame and wasn't sure what all I had to change if i go that way. Wasn't sure if I had to change springs, driveshaft or just the box.

well any frame from 73 to 79 should work, but if you found a shortbed truck that was a little beat up but good frame and running gear id just put your cab on it, not a hard swap if you and a couple buddies could get together on the weekend it could be done in a half day or so, ive done several myself, but you take two trucks and make one good one, just gotta use your cab and you wont have to go and register for a new truck, they dont care if its a short or long bed. that will also save you modification time
