It sounds like a case of too much pressure. What pressure is called for on your truck? Maybe the radiator was past due for replacement.

It calls for 13 PSI and yeah the radiator was old It just seems funny that it happened the very next day after I replace the cap and I never had any problems with it before

Your old cap was probably not holding pressure. 13 psi x several hundred square inches is a lot of force!

It sure as hell is. I was on a 3 lane interstate in the Middle Lane and it was like a bomb went off. Cars on both sides of me were about to go in the ditch. Fluid was everywhere and smoke was rolling off the truck. It blew up so bad I got antifreeze inside the truck cab through the firewall

What cap. It was nowhere to be found. I have 2 holes on top of the radiator & 1 on the front side. The backside is all beat up from blowing into the fan and it tore the fan up. The radiator housing or shroud is in about 8 pieces. The only thing that was holding the radiator in the truck was the bottom hose. I disconnected the hose and was able to pull the radiator right out of the truck

Thanks for your comments F-O-R. You're probably right about the 1st cap not holding pressure and then when I put the new one on any small crack in the radiator could have caused it.
