1986 Ford F150 Carburator

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 86 Ford with a 2 barrel carburator which needs replacing. The local Ford dealer says
they are unavailable. Is there an after market solution? It seems that most are one barrel carbs.
I assume if I have to change the carb model I would also have to change the intake manifold.

Check a website like summitracing.com, they have rebuilt carbs and many aftermarket ones. If you go to the top right corner you can select the specific engine you have and it will give you the ones that should fit. The intake manifold should be fairly universal.
u should be able to get a rebuild kit at an auto parts store.
A rebuilt kit apparently does not resolve this problem. The throttle shaft is worn and leaking.
carb-x.com has many different rebuilt carbs available.maybe they have what u need.
If the engine is in good condition, ever thought of putting in a small 4 barrel carb instead?
lmctruck.com they have everything for 86 ford.. i was well pleased with the prices and service. They are in lanexa,ks
u can also try searching for your intake if u can find that then u usualy can find the carb for it
If you don't mind running a manual choke use PART #: 0-4412C from Holley and use a cable from your local auto parts store or use part #45-228 ($18.67) also from Holley they are $275 through summit racing and other than running the choke cable shoud be a direct bolt on. If I were looking for one I would check amazon.com or ebay motors for the best deal you may find some that were over stocked and new at wholesale price.
