My 1989 f150 fired up my wife released the e break it died and now it will not do any thing

The e brake should not have any thing to do with the starting issue. Do you have electronic ignigtion in it? 1989 should have a machanicial fuel pump all so but ford did have a probem back then with the electronic ignition system the pick up coil gos bad and when they stop you are dead in the water

judge_roy the heilcal gear is on the other end of the disibutor the gear that goes to the cam shaft that runs the distutor shaft. the electronics are on the top of it. you pull the cap and the rotor an i believe there are 2 screws and the whole electronic system comes right out and unpluges replace it and away you go

Have we solved this gentleman's problem...seems like a bloodhound effort to assure the basics, air, fuel, spark, timing...valve timing...performance~ somewhere one of these essentials has fallen off the turnip truck...please help us by telling us where we stand....fuel pressure could be heard when the key is switched to the on position prior to starting....you wouldn't ask little timmy to put his tongue on that, but with a wood handle screwdriver you could mess around to find whether it is sparking or not...help please~

OF COURSE...the high pressure fuel reset button...yes the magic button exists on the driver's side kick panel round about 5/8 an inch and RED probably...you cannot miss it....press it and it will magically restore fuel pressure....will say from experience sometimes the magic works~!

It is a carburator not fuel injetected so that means there is no reset for fuel pressure regulator. Its a 1989 probly the 300 cui inline 6

On a 88-89 It is on the firewall inside the cab on the drivers side. I think an 86 is the same place, Just push the button down to reset it but if your pumps run when you first turn on the key it is OK.

not quite sure what you mean my friend...this one definitely has a fuel pressure regulator would affect performance...not starting~ in any case it does have an ASD relay and this panic-shutoff~
