make sure the batt. is fully charged and terminals are clean and tight , could be the starter if it's getting juice and only clicks . Solenoid is separate from the starter on this ?

you may have wires shorted out or bad grounds , rodents may have camped out there while it was sitting and they like to chew on wire insulation
you may be right, i found some nesting material and dog food on engine when i started to check this out. Thanks for the help.
didn't find any shorted wires but replaced the neg bat cable and the switch to starter cable. Pulled the starter and its was bad. spent most of saturday replacing it ( weighs a ton and is not that easy to get to all bolts). all is well again. thanks for the help.
