Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My camper needs a mechanical fuel pump but I cannot find one hereabouts.
Any help would be appreciated. I have exhausted my book of Who's Who.

It looks like an electric fuel pump is the replacement for the mechanical one. Rockauto.com has a few listed from different manufacturers. You would need to wire it so the pump comes on with the ignition switch and shuts off when you turn off the ignition. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks. Been thar done it. I was hopping to be old school. Hope some one has new old stock somewhere sitting on a shelf in a shed. A nice unused Carter
I came up with dozens after a 1 second internet search. Just google Ford 460 mechanical fuel pump. I need a vacation after all that work.

Google. Yes dozens of upside down, right side up with straight and bent crank arms. gas line hook-ups need to face opposite directions not the same side. Look how different they are. So none of them fit. I have spent more than a second looking to see that they don't look like mine after receiving a mismatch from Parts Greek. which is sitting on my shelf if you need new old stock.
I'd be afraid of a NOS fuel pump because of the rubber diaphragm inside. If it's been on the shelf for many years, which it probably has, the rubber could be rotted and begin leaking as soon as you start the engine. Any chance of having the old one rebuilt? A1 Cardone in Philadelphia, PA rebuilds lots of things. You might contact them. Your local auto parts store might be able to send it to them for a rebuild. It's worth a shot. Hope that helps! Jim
In what way don't they fit? You may have to adjust or adapt the fuel lines but I think most of them will fit.

FIT? Look in the picture at the crank arm. That has the biggest bend in history and that must fit.

Jim, I have heard of peeps who can rebuild but did not know who they are. Thanks for an A1 heads-up.
I suspect the crank arm is drooping because the pump is broken.
