Well i have a bronco II and a Ranger if you look at your bild date on the door my bronco II was built in 7/86 it has a 2.9 and my ranger was a 5/87 it too has a 2.9.that i have seen that are from the factory are all computerrized. And they all have some type of electrnics with the late eighty carbrator but there are ways around things. If you will go to www.therangerstation.com they can tell you all about things like that.

even the carborated Rangers had some sort of computer , starting in the early eighties. The computer was used to monitor the carb and use a "duty solenoid" to keep carb within emission specs. By 1986 Ford had fuel injection ( throttle body and multi point ) , so I believe 1985 would be the last year you would see carbs . The Mustangs last year of having a carb was 1985 ( 4bbl on the GT ) Computers on the Ranger would have been used from about late 1970's depending on if it was Cal or Fed emissions .
