How Could i Increase HP in my 2.3 L4 engine

Remove, replace with small block V8. It's a naturally aspirated four cylinder that doesn't have a high compression ratio. Unless you put a blower or turbo on it, you won't be making much more power doing anything else.
the cheapest way is a turbo or supercharger but thay both lead u to other problems such as coolin and work that may need to be done to the moter so u dont blow it up the v8 ider is a good one but can the gearbox ,dif handle it i had a 1984 model hilux 4x4 that i put a 3.8 v6 commadoor moter and gearbox in it and power to weight out put was cool i could smoke 35'' tyers it all depands how much u want to spend
It's the same engine that they used in the Mustangs with a Turbo so if you can find a mustang turbo and all the stuff that goes with it it's not too hard to do
Yes, easily. Chevy S10s at the drag strip will have small blocks in them all the time. The older square body style could fit a big block, and so could thee square body style Dodge Dakota.
pull the 2.3 and throw the 4.0 6cyl in it...moves a ranger damn quick and you get a lot more torque...if you don't want to spend the money to do that then go for a turbo, exhaust manifolds, and a k+n filtercharger cold air intake kit
do they make one for a 1987 2.3 ?
Don't forget to tell him about the turbo lag, it really slows down the revs
Hey, i would throw a V8 in it there really cheap and easy to come by your local junk yard will have one
Cheapest route... Buy a 2.3 turbo motor out of the Mustang SVO, the Thunderbird turbo coupe, or the Merkur XR4Ti. The motor is a direct bolt in, you need the wiring harness, and computer, or you can do a standalone with the megasquirt. There are very subtle differences b/w the 2.3t and the n/a 2.3 internally. A friend of mine and I got a mustang LX that had the swap done and was making 400rwhp @ 20psi + for $175....cheapest parts I have ever seen, and most of the work was done in a home garage. There is information on this swap all over the place for the ranger, you will spend way more for a V8 swap, to make the power of the turbo motor.
lol dude ur from gardner nice, lol i no a guy there who recently did a 302 swap on his 89 ranger. he said that he had no troubles and it really was pretty simple. if you ever really need any questions on where to find a 302 add me on facebook man, i know all of the salvage yards and probably know of a few people willing to sell 302's if u ever get really interested. if you know travis jones or isaac adcock they'll both tell you i know my stuff when it comes to cars. so if u ever do need help i'll do what i can.
Would putting dual exhausts on my 1992 2.3L help hp any?
