What would cause the lights to cut off while driving at night?

Asked by Howard3578 Aug 15, 2014 at 10:46 AM about the 1977 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I would be driving at night and the lights would just cut off with no warning. I would have to cut them off and cut them back on, just to get them to come back on. They won't stay on longer than 30 minutes before the cut off again.

I want to thank you for info on Mercury Grand Marquis headlight control module. My lights went of and on while driving. Am a lady 71 years old - very frightening. You suggested I call Ford and they will replace under warranty and they did. I cannot thank you enough.
