Actually, I had a '73 with a 'hondamatic' two on the floor. I was the 5th full-time driver, it had 200K miles on it before I sent it to the scrapper. It was blue-green with a nifty light green stripe down the side.

Our 1973 had a HondaMatic 2 speed. You pulled the shifter to "1" to move and then shifted to "2". It was also pssible to start out in "2" if desired. Gas mileage was between 45 & 50 MPG on a trip. At about 90,000 miles I had to replace the rusted out front fenders with new plastic ones and had the car repainted. Ran it to about 125,000 and then sold it. Mechanically it was a beast on front rotors. At about 36,000 the timing belt broke and caused massive damage to the valve train but was repaired under warranty even though it had expired. Never had another large mechanical problem. Honda is a great company and at this time (2013) there is a new CRV and a new Fit sitting in our garage
