Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1980 Honda Wagon keeps blowing the fuse to the fuel pump whenever I turn on the ignition - even with the fuel pump unplugged.

Sounds like you've got a short somewhere... I'd get out an multimeter and find the wire with low resistance to the chassis, then follow it and look for the problem. I'm not good at electrical so hopefully someone can point you in a more specific direction.

Adam is right. Its a short. Unfortunately I am also not very knowledgeable about electrical systems.

I figured it was a short, but I was hoping somebody would know where the best place to look would be. Obviously, I can't drive my car anywhere with this problem.

it a bad ground either on the pump or on the fuse box. also check the wires that feed into the box to make sure they are not melted or bare.

Thanks, Chris; I have checked the fuel pump, but I'll check the back of the fuse box.
