BMW X5 4.4i , Navigation Monitor Problem
Hi,
The monitor of the navigation system of my BMW X5 2003 has a weired problem.
The monitor works perfectly sometimes, but other times it gets bright white so that I cannot see anything.
It is completely random, sometimes working sometimes not (it gets white)!!???
(it is not battery problem for sure, since I have installed a new battery last month and nothing has changed)
Do you know what the problem is?

it might b due to heavy work load sometime the car's navigation software needs some upgrade so try an upgrade and it happends on ma prado too so i upgraded and now it's working fine
either change the s/w or get ur monitor checked. might be a pixel related issue.

if it goes blank usually the nav control unit take a dump.dont disconnet the nav unit til the light is off on the unit in the trunk.gotta wait about 10min.bmw wont warranty this if it is not properly disconnected and they can tell.

If your BMW is still in warranty, you can get it fixed for free.........I have heard a lot of issues with NAV/SCREENS.......Give Zach a call,He is in charge of BMW service at Autobahn BMW ......have your complete VIN # ready to read back to him on the phone....there may be an open recall on your car.ZACH"S phone number @ AUTOBAHN is 1-817-336-0885
I believe the problem is a small flat connection in the back of NAV. When u press the bottom for the loading a tape (old tape), the front panel of Nav is coming out, if you put ur hand behind the pop-ed out monitor, u will find a flat connection. If the connection is mechanically lose or has defects, it make the above problem. When I touch the connection, the problem will be solved for few days. However, I believe, I have to replace the connection for a permanent fix.
