2004 BMW X5 4.4i dependability

How does the 4.4i V8 hold up with excellent
maintenance? Can I get 200,000 without much
repair issues? What's the average life of the engine
under proper maintenance?

The M62 is a good engine if properly maintained. If you are on top of all maintenance and take very good care of it, it will last you 200,000 miles no problem. Just make sure you take care of cooling system components like everything else, as that's probably the worst part of any BMW.
