Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Water accumulates around the battery and along the front inside of the trunk after it rains. Is anyone familiar with this problem?
Thanks

check any seals and gutters as the seals perish and gutters get blocked

check seal around light on trunk lid. you might be able to seal it with a silicone caulk. this will stop leak.

one area to watch is the cavity behind the door where the roof folds into, there is a drain in there that can cause your issue, it can also lead to other electrical problems if not seen to.

Thank you, Luke, for the suggestion. I think it is on the right track. Is this cavity and drain something I can get to and clean out myself, without taking the top off? If so, can you make some suggestions on how to do so? This would be fab if I could take care of it myself!

it may be possible with the roof in a half open position, a long nossel air blower will work well to flush the drain out.

I have a leak into the trunk of my 1997 BMW Z3 -- water collects in battery compartment and into back of trunk area. I see the answer here to check gutters that may be blocked. Can you tell me where these gutters are and how to best check for blocks? Thanks! L
