My check engine light does not work.

I have a 2002 Ford f150XL. So
it's time to take the truck in  
for a smog test. It failed
because the check engine
light does not come on when
the key is in the egnition
before turning on the truck.
Can someone help me needs
to pass the test in 5 day's
please and thank you.

Sure, most probably the bulb in the instrument cluster is burned out. All the lamps should illumination when you turn the key to the on position. Remove the negative battery cable first, then remove any plastic panels to access the instrument cluster for removal. Twist the bulb out and install a new. youtube will have some videos on helping you do that.
