Cummins in f-150
would it be possible to put a cummins 4bt in a 2000 ford f-150 4.6 auto? is it possible to bolt the engine to the torque converter and how would u control engine rpm when the tranny shifts?
cause i have this f-150 with the 4.6 v8 auto with a serious engine problem. i also got a hold of a cummins 4bt off a generator. The cummins runs well and i have always wanted a diesel truck.
Also would it be possible to get an old 5 speed for it instead of using the old auto out of the truck

yes anythings possibe and that combo has been done before
Yes I have heard & read of it being done. Go to Google & type in: "cummins 4bt conversions". Hope you have deep pockets, or a strong mechanical/welding skills.
in order to use the stock transmission you will have to get an adapter plate custom machined to match the Cummings flywheel, but I would recommend getting the transmission that goes with the engine. and they have done the Cummings swaps on Ranger's so why not a f-150? for your year of truck it will be a tight fit, so you need to have some good fab skills or a good buddy
anything is possible, you just have to have the money and the knoweledge, but apparently your lacking something cuz your wanting to put a cummins in a ford, yeah i understand the cummins has more power stock, but i can outrun any cummins with a 92 f350 crew cab longbed, oversize tires and a wornout 460
Does she have a good pair of pipes on it? I'd bet she'd ROAR!
and also since you are putting in a Cummings or thinking of it, you should upgrade your rearend to a ford 9" or a sterling 10.5"
are you asking me? no the truck that has the worn out 460 doesnt have any exhaust except for the down tubes off the manifolds, so yeah its pretty damn loud lol and because i live in routt county in colorado, we drive it everywhere
