99 f150 triton v8 hard to start slow response to acceleration

Asked by Guru91FDC Jul 05, 2017 at 02:16 PM about the 1999 Ford F-150

Question type: General

99 f150 with triton v8 very hard to start . Once it
finally does start it has a very slow response to
acceleration and it is fairly weak for a v8. Has the
k&n air filter.  I just replaced the mass airflow
sensor thinking that was the problem but it didn't
help. I'm thinking dirty injectors, or the throttle
position sensor . Has anyone else been through
this ? Any suggestions?

Could be a few things. I used to have this same car and when mine did this, it was a weak fuel pump. It met spec at koeo (key on engine off) and at idle, but going up hills with the gauge hooked up showed pressure loss. I would check fuel pump next and check resistance on injectors.

O-rings become worn in pump and pressure is still produced, but not enough
