Question type: Maintenance & Repair

home from work nd shifted into 3rd the shifter is
now completely stuck and won't budge. What
could be wrong and how hard or easy of a fix

If the shifter is on the floor, bushings get worn out and they make new parts for the shifter. There would be a cover the shifter goes threw that needs to come off to access the shift mechenisum (sp) Just look on you tube to see how it is done. If the shifter is on the steering column, then the column would have to be replaced.
So easy fix or hard? Possible transmission probably or completely different?
I haven't done it myself, but work in a shop where they did repair this. It was just a matter of repairing the shifter. You may want to talk to a transmission shop for a better idea. I believe the shifter just needs to be repaired. So probably the transmission itself is ok.
Ok its just completely stuck it's a manual so it is on the floor he can't get it to move at all to move into another gear
May have to jack up the rear end and play with the drive shaft, turning it back and forth. Should try to get it to neutral. But also where there any warning signs, problem with shifting?
I would still check with a transmission shop for proper advise.
He said it happened once before but he was able.to pull it free this time there is no pulling it free it is stuck in 3rd

I remember a old ford with a clutch that something with the clutch went out and it was stuck in that gear, I did not fix it and do not know the exact part failure but do know it had a new full clutch kit put in and it was fine after that but also know of linkage issues too, it needs looked at to be sure.
Ok he thinks the clutch is fine but I will have him call around to see if we can get it looked at. It's the linkage inside the transmission
Ok guys I got the top transmission cover off and this is what I'm looking at
So that must be the shifter, any problem with it shifting, movement? Is it out of 3erd gear now? Do you see any shavings or problems inside the trany?
It is still torn apart as far as I know it's still in 3rd that's where it was when I took it apart. No shavings inside at all. Someone mentioned the 1-2 fork looked pretty banged up which it does have some nice groves in it
