2012 F150 5.0L FX2 key stuck in the ignition

Asked by Pup3rd Jun 27, 2016 at 03:36 AM about the 2012 Ford F-150 FX2 SuperCrew

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 F150 5.0L FX2 with center console shifter.
When I shift my vehicle into park the dash light
does not indicated the vehicle's in park and I can
not remove keys even with the center console
shows in park.  I believe its some type of parking
sensor.  It's not the steering wheel as I try the trick
where you turn the wheel slightly to unlock it.

Its the center console that is not all the way into Park. Sometimes u have to play with the console shifter to get it in Park. My land cruiser does the same thing.

There is a switch in the console has moved up out of place and the leaver is not contacting the switch. Remove the shifter cover, on the right front of the shifter assembley. Push the switch back down into place and the light will come on and your key will come out.
