Sounds like you might have a short on the battery or short on your starter motor. Check the connection to the battery and use a volt meter to see if the voltage drops when starting.
I had a 1998 Ford ranger 4x4 I had the same problem, check your battery terminal, see if the are corided or if the terminals have any cracks on them, make sure the terminals are tight, make sure they are clean, or use some sandpaper to clean then, this should solve your problem!
had the same problem with a 1996 crown vic, it was the battery, found out only after having it towed home, costly lesson, they take a lot of voltage for all the components.
i agree with the others, clean battery terminals and tighten the connections. it also could be a bad ground from the battery to the engine.
Thanks a bunch for your responses. I think it was the battery cable. Now back to my original issue. The Truck will start but as soon as I put pressure on the gas paddle it dies. Changed fuel filter 6 months ago. Sprayed gas directly into the engine but engine picks up fuel for a second and then dies. Because of this I don’t think the issue is not getting fuel??? Would like to hear any suggestions.. tks.
I had the same thing happen to me. 98' ford f150 4x4... Looked under the hood into the fuse box on the drivers side that contains the "Maxi and Mini" fuses... The 'obe2' was corroded... took it out, used a wire brush to clean it, and it started right up...
Got a. 2000 f150 4x4 replaced the ecm now all it will do is turn over but won't crank. Can you give me any advice
