Life expectancy of a ford f-150

Some common issues with the 5.4 3 valve engine are Timing chains system, Phasers and spark plugs. Depending on maintenance given by previous owners but they fail as early as 75K miles.
Depends on how the vehicle was maintained. If you are looking at purchasing one, check out the vehicle and see what does not work. If the owner does not fix the little things, what do you think the chances are it addresses the necessities. Run your finger across the face of the rotors. If they are grooved, then the brakes have not been maintained and will need replacing along with the pads. Just a note. There is a large nut holding on the front rotors. They are one use, when they come off, they're 35 bucks a piece to replace. And you'll need a torque wrench with the ability to tighten to 200 plus foot pounds.
At 185k I had to have the intake manifold gaskets replaced on my 2000 f-150. My 2010 f-150 has rusty bumpers and the back up camera works intermittently. I bought both trucks new and only had/have them serviced at the dealer. Both were/are 4wd, city and highway driving, no off-roading and no towing. From my perspective, the reputation of the f-150 exceeds it's actual quality (and price). When I get my f-150 service religiously (every 5k at the dealer where I bought it), and don't drive it like I lived in a 3rd world country without paved roads, I expect 200k trouble-free miles. Hasn't happened yet.
Mine is at 168,000 changed muffler, starter, radiator, power steering, abs module, front hubs, tensioner pully, rack and pinion, cads, and the dome light. Runs like a champ.
Mine has 222222 today other then then the back window leaking, plugs, yuns good
2016 f150 V8 xlt crew cab long bed with flip top bed cover. Bought new 2 1/2 years Ago, now has 140,000 miles. I drive 5000 miles a month 95% highway at 70 mph. MPG averages 18-20 calculates with Fuelly app. Get an oil change at the dealer free the first Saturday every month. Other than oil and air filters I have replaced 2 cabin filters and 2 rear turn signal bulbs. 2 tires replaced free under warranty at 35k and 40k miles with sidewall damage. Now have 140k on front tires and 100k on rear. Run at 35 psi. Balanced and rotated once.
2009 f150 4wd 5.4 Triton farm truck.,245,000 miles everything original except starter catalytic converters and fuel pump. No leaks and runs like a champ. Pull stock trailer and flatbed trailer often. If it lays down on me tomorrow I'll have no complaints!!
There are F150s at Ritchie Brothers Auctions with well over 200,000 miles, often 300,000 that still bring $2k or more especially 4X4s so someone thinks there's value in them.
06 fx4 5.4 3v.. 202,500 miles. Still runs and drives like a brand new truck with only normal repairs/maintenance. Changed the plugs and coil packs at 100k, “for a piece of mind”...and once again at 200k. I don’t think I’ll ever own another truck with as minimal problems as this one. Everything that has ever went bad were your normal repairs. Brakes, alternator, tire rod ends and ball joints. All within the last 20k miles, which at that time the truck had well over 170k, no problems whatsoever. Wouldn’t trade it for a brand new one.
250000 miles .no pob.
98 F150 4.6 275101 miles. Burns a ton of oil. Replaced fuel pump yesterday. Runs excellent. No CEL.
My 2006 F150 Supercab has 290000+ and still runs great. It burns no oil. The body has some minor rust here and there which I will address in the spring. I had the spark plugs changed once at around 140K. The fuel pump module rotted out twice. Stupidly, it is under the truck - duh. I bought mine brand new with 8 miles on the odometer in Jan. of 2007. No complaints here.

Purchased a 2011 F150 XL (reg cab) rear wheel drive new for my business. Have done tires, brakes, plugs and oil changes (normal stuff). Now has 253,000 km on it and have had to recently replace the starter motor (250,764), transmission cooling lines (due to corrosion 240,282) the intermediate steering shaft which seized from corrosion (252,100). The corrosion that damaged the transmission lines and the steering shaft were due to the heavy use of road salt during Southern Ontario winters. I should have had the truck oil sprayed annually. I am curious to see what the maintenance costs will be over the next 150,000 km.
Honestly depends on what maintenance has been performed. Mine is an 05 fx4 with 311,000 on the original engine.... If well taken care of, they last a long time.
I have a 2005 5.4L 4x4 that i've had to replace actuator hubs and vacuum line, it does leak a little oil but other than that its about 291800 and still runs exceptionally well.
My 2007 king ranch as 331,000 miles and has driven interstate miles at 70-85 mph, desert roads and oil and gas roads in west Texas, and 3’ deep mud along pipeline in Iowa-only maintenance has been oil changes every 5000 miles, ball joints, and plug change at 200,000. Still runs, drives, and looks good.

My 04 F-150 lariat 5.4l 4wd crew cab has around 530,000 miles. It still takes us from Ohio to Mississippi three times a year and is used daily as a work truck.
I have a 2002 F150 crew cab. Just clocked 200k and she runs great. Second vehicle for me but been driving it a lot more cause she runs solid changed plugs 10k miles ago and no major expenses since I bought it 6 years ago at 140k miles. Body is in great shape so why sell it change oil 3000 Miles just curious as to what I can expect to go before a major expense.
Just bought a 02 with 358000 miles, dirty but no dents and no rust, no smoke. Scary how good it runs. Rides and drives like a new truck and every thing works. Fellow I bought from says it had 150000 when he bought it 5 years ago and he used it to sell steaks from and never shut it off and only maintenance done was regular oil changes and trans rebuilt at 250000 miles. No telling how much running time is actually on the engine. Drivers seat is even still nice and firm. Only have had 1 day , washed it now it looks almost new. $1500.00 ,worth that easily.
Ok let me first say... I have owned ford dodge and chevy trucks. Of all I like the ford the best. However, I have replaced in my 2007 f150 4x4 5.4 triton: transmission168k, radiator 180k, timing chain 200k, coil packs 200k, power stering pump 190k, plugs at 150k. If you had the dealer do the work it would run $10k easily. I consider this normal costs of running a truck to 220k miles but it is hardly cheap. For those of you running the timming chain over 180k miles you are on borrowed time and are blessed if it is still running. There are exceptions out there but I think my experience is very average not The exception like some of these stories. I religiously change oil every 3k miles
I've got a 2013 5.0 FX4 crew cab. It's just shy of 250,000, replaced water pump, thermostat at about 235,000 (because it was just as old as pump) purge valve. Bought it new, it's gets an oil change and tire rotation about every 7 weeks, all maintenance done at dealership. Of course brakes and rotors have been changed out. Its has spent most of its live with highway miles (maybe 80%)
09 f150 5.4 241,748 miles. No fluid leaks. Just got 18 mpg driving to Houston from Louisiana 75MPH. Still runs and sounds great. Change oil and filters every 5000 mi. Paid 6000.00 for it in 2013 with 140,000 miles on it. I'll do it again one day unless this one keeps doing its thing. Best vehicle I ever owned.

I have a 2014 F-150 with the 5.0 motor. I purchased new and have 225,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles and use partial synthetic oil. Trans fluid was changed at 80,000 miles and 160,000 miles. Spark plugs at 100,000 miles. The fuel pump fuse blew out and that's all I've had to repair. Not bad !!!
