F150 won't crank
Asked by jakesteve1993 Oct 29, 2013 at 10:33 PM about the 1993 Ford F-150
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was headed down the highway one day
and my truck started to bog down, so I
pulled over thinking it had over
heated... Radiator was full so I had it
towed. Replaced the fuel pump and the
truck ran fine for about 2 miles then
wouldn't crank... I would try to start it
and it would almost turn over but
wouldn't. I changed the fuel filter and
the ignition coil and it will just crank
but won't turn over at all. Please help
me fix it before I have to pay a shop

you did not run low on gasoline?...because this is how the fuel pump keeps it's cool....test the connections at the fuel pump to see if you are getting 12 grounded volts before shopping for another pump~

open circuit or starts tuning? if it's turning let's be sure the circuit is primed and ready to face the fuel pressure regulator~

I had a half a tank of gas. I can hear the fuel pump hum when I turn the ignition

vvaaaa...fuel pressure regulator~ check your to make sure that the diaphragm is still intact (of a mind that chevron with techron eats this matl.) and that the vacuum has an effect on the AMOUNT of fuel it will allow through~ https://www.google.com/#q=1993+Ford+F-150+fuel+pressure+regulator

engine control relay may be a whumpin'~ https://www.google.com/#q=1993+Ford+F-150+fuel+pump+relay&tbm=shop

Alright I'll but one tomorrow and let you know what happens
I am going through the same issue. I replaced the relay and checked the fuse. Both of those were fine. There is a fuel reset button on the passenger side floor board. Press that to see if it's tripped. I think my next step is to replace my pump.

Bubba, let us not forget the ASD relay (if a newer car) which shuts down all electricals so as not to cause a fire~

I took it to a shop today. I'll post what it was when its fixed

try the fuel pressure reset button on the driver's side kick panel~ might have to pull back the lining a bit~
