My 2006 Toyota RAV4 is having problems with the heater. It works when you turn the dial to 1 and 2, but not at 3 or 4. Any idea as to what could be the problem? Thank you in advance!

Would you be referring to the fan switch? If so I would suspect there is a break in the switch or maybe the wires to the fan motor
Yes, BURT100, that's what I meant, but I just couldn't find the proper word for it, lol. Thank you! That sounds like it might make sense because when I turned the fan switch to 4 and wiggled it a bit this morning, it made a strange sound and then worked. How would one go about fixing such a problem, or even getting to that part of the vehicle? Thank you very much!
well I would begin with a check of the switch wiring to make sure it is fully attached. Having it kick in is indicative-I think-. of deterioration in the switch A scorce for a replacement is http://partsfactory.camelbacktoyota.com/toyota/rav4/559020r010/2006 -year/limited-trim/2-4l-l4-gas-engine/hvac-cat/controls-scat/? part_name=blower-motor-switch ......HOWEVER I would stop by this site FIRST :: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/private.php? do=newpm&u=219261 and sent toyotaman a PM to see what his price would be or if he has any other suggestions. Good Luck and may the "fan" force be with..... oh never mind -sigh
