my starter

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am so  28th my car I'm so ready to tell
the dealer they can come and pick it up, my
starter will not turn off it just keeps running
I don't know if I need a new one or what,
PLEASE HELP!

First make sure ignition switch is not staying stuck in start position when u start the vehicle. If switch is ok, start car and disconnect battery cable going to starter and see if it keeps spinning, if it does, u need a new starter. If it stops doing it, put cable back on and check for power on the small wire at starter, there should only be power (12 volts dc) when u turn the ignition key to run position, if there's still power after you release key and switch goes back to on position, trace back to starter relay and ignition swtch
