1997 town and country AC compressor pulley worn?????
Okay
I recently bought a 1997 town and country everything was going fine until one day I
smelled burning rubbber I immediatly pulled over popped the hood and notice my
radiator fan was not on, even though the car wasnt running hot I cut the car off let it
cool all the way down then drove home. On my way back home right before i turned to
puill into my drive way I heard a pop and turning became impossible.
MY serpentine belt came off, it wasnt torn up just 1 clean cut, Ive replaced a pulley or
two before so after a day went by I had my new belt and checked all the pulleys.
The pulley to my ac compressor is worn it turns but its wobbly local ,mechanic came
by and said it will be 1200 to replace my compressor, even tho he admitted the
compressor seems to be working fine.
So my question is there anyway I can replace the pulley to the compressor ? my only
other alternative is to by a ac compressor bypass and do the job myself as I cant afford
a 1200 dollar job, I was reading about making the belt shorter and cutting of the ac
compressor.
Can someone please offer me a cheaper solution? Can I replace the pulley to the ac
compressor myself? Is an ac bypass pulley an real solution for my car? Is there any
tricks to this shorter belt theory?
3.8 liter 1997 town and country van. Thanks so much.
